Someone that’s been out of college for 3-4 years, worked at a fiber manufacturer for a couple of years as a project manager. That would be the perfect candidate for the Technical Sales Rep role. Summary
Reporting to the VP Sales & Marketing and based in the United States, the Technical Sales Representative – Composites will help build our North American aerospace and industrial composite materials business through a combination of new account origination and coverage of existing accounts. This sales role requires a self-driven, results-oriented individual with the skill set to identify attractive end-markets and develop new customers by leveraging our existing sales network and technical expertise. Extensive travel (50-60%) will be an important factor in cultivating strong, ongoing customer/supplier and internal relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Develop and implement market strategies with support from the VP Sales & Marketing to expand company presence in new aerospace and industrial markets.
- Originate new customer and near-term revenue opportunities for company products.
- Oversee new program and product qualifications with company Research & Development (R&D) group for key customers.
Customer/Account Management
- Assume sales coverage of selected aerospace and industrial accounts.
- Develop relationships with key technical and purchasing decision makers.
- Manage responses to requests for quotes and proposals.
- Work with company Customer Service and other areas of the organization to ensure customer issues or concerns are resolved effectively and in a timely manner
Business Management
- Establish detailed and accurate sales budgets and forecasts.
- Establish, maintain (including negotiation of pricing) and build relationships with suppliers of key raw material inputs
- Work with company Sales and R&D on developing product roadmaps and project priorities for key customers and target markets
Key Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Science or Engineering from an accredited educational institution
- 3-5 years business development and/or technical experience in composites or related material space.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (English).
- Experience in building customer relationships and developing market research.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective organization and prioritization skills.
- Strong computer literacy and solid foundation with the MS Office Suite.
Working Conditions
- Extensive travel (50-60%) within North America plus periodic travel internationally.
- Operates out of a home office location base.
