SUMMARY:

This position has overall responsibility for the quality management system at the facility. The Quality Manager maintains oversight for the industry required certifications for the site, as well as supplier quality and customer quality including testing and certification process. The position has Quality Engineers and Quality Control Technicians and Inspectors needed to support the business as direct reports.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Lead and manage the quality team and ensure the group receives the appropriate training for their respective roles.

Oversee and ensure that company maintains there ISO 9001 and AS 9100 certifications and act as site management representative for the QMS.

Maintain the customer specification database and ensure that all revisions are reviewed and kept current. Also manage the document control process at the site.

Lead the effort of ongoing customer satisfaction by analyzing concerns, feedback and returns and implementing corrective action plans to correct root cause. Root cause investigations may either occur at the factory of at the customer site.

Manage the Cost of Quality metric and make recommendations on how to continuously improve.

Oversee the NCR and MRB processes and maintain the corrective and preventative action database.

Oversight of all certification testing and the sire metrology program.

Work with the Materials group to ensure that there is a robust supplier auditing process that conforms to customer’s requirements. Manage the flow down of aerospace OEM specifications to our suppliers.

Oversee Qualification and acceptance testing of manufactured composite materials, polymers, fabrics and fibers.

Manage the contract review process on new customer orders.

Assist the engineering team in maintaining the management of change process within the QMS.

Participate in the operating and capital budgeting process and recommend improved test equipment and process improvements for the Quality departments.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT.

BS degree in a technical discipline.

Minimum five years in a Quality Engineering or Management role in the composites, polymers or related industry.

Experience in aerospace quality systems including knowledge of AS9100.

Experience in QC testing methods and aerospace specifications.

Experience using statistical process control tools.

Excellent problem solving skills.

Experience and understanding of how to use an ERP system within the quality function.

Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Attention to detail.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires both office work and ability to work in a chemical manufacturing and laboratory environment.

Requires frequent sitting during office work and walking and standing for long periods while managing the labs or auditing manufacturing processes.
