92186   Project Manager Boeing Qualification

Reports To:             Director Business Development

Most important functional tasks:

Lead, advise and direct the company team of four on the qualification process for Boeing.

Work with and interface with the customer.

This company is already qualified with Airbus, GE, Lockheed Martin, Pratt and Whitney but not yet Boeing, so they can do this.  They realize this will take around $3MM in investment, but the potential is there to do $20MM of business.

Background of the person you seek

  • Familiarity with BAC 5578 and BAC 5317.
  • Project Management.
  • Engineering or Quality background.
  • Ability to lead and direct a team.  Has led or worked with a team on Boeing qualification.  5578 and 5317.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Excel;  Word of MS Project Preferred.

Education required?  Desirable?  Minimum?

  • Experience most important.  Must be someone who understands Boeing Specs.  Degree good, but not required.

Personality type which would fit in well:

  • Not a dictator.  Can listen and communicate without being authoritative.  Not working with direct reports, but able to get them to listen.  Can talk to people and give them constructive feedback.

Outcomes which must be achieved and within what timeframe:

  • Boeing qualification 5578 and 5317 within up to one year.  Should take at least 6 months, but Boeing says it has been done in 3 months.

Promotional opportunity?  Time frame?:

  • Very visible position.  Good chance to open up opportunities.  If they impress management they won’t want them to leave.  Could be Manager, Sr. Quality Engineer, Program Manager,  Business Management,  Interfacing with customers.

  • Director of Business Development or possibly Business Development person who reports to Director.
  • True to his word.   Will do what he says he will do.  Treats people fairly the way he wants to be treated.  Drives people by expectations and results not just doing it his way.
  • Has 30 years with company.  Has held a lot of jobs.  Ran operations for 3 years, Program Management, Put in first computer system,  Business Development, Director Business Development, so he is in a good position to be an effective leader.
