Summary:                   Leads and directs a team of Technical Managers and engineers in the accomplishment of R&D, product development and product improvement technical objectives.  Manages resources including personnel, facilities, systems, and applies the Company’s core technology base to meet program requirements.  Major emphases on: personnel resource management for training and career development of engineers; top quality product development and process improvement to meet all commitments; serving as a primary focal point for technical matters with customers and improving Company position with all customers from quality, delivery and cost perspectives.

  • Duties: Contributes to the profitability of the Company by overseeing the effective allocation of human, production and technical resources to position the Company as the producer of low-cost, total quality, and technologically superior composite parts.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for ensuring that the quality of the Company’s products are consistent with agreed upon specifications and that the Company meets its contractual obligations by producing composite parts according to specifications with on-time delivery to the customer.
  • Directs technical development projects with all aspects of the projects’ cost, quality, and schedule balanced and obtained.
  • Maintains the Company’s technology leadership position by staying current with all applicable technologies and initiating development programs as necessary.
  • Provides technical guidance as necessary to program management, proposals, quality, manufacturing operations, procurement and marketing/contracts.
  • Develops a highly motivated, well-trained staff capable of meeting the short and long term staffing requirements of the business unit and Company.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of a corporate culture, which supports the Company’s overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in issues that involve “cost, quality, process, schedule and people”.
  • Provides leadership and direction with emphasis on team building.
  • Ensures the company’s commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
  • Fully complies with the “Company Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government” in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government. Ensures subordinate staff is aware of the policy and their individual responsibility and accountability for complying with it.
  • Administers and complies with the Company’s human resources policies and procedures to provide fair and equitable treatment for all employees while ensuring optimum productivity and resource utilization. Prepares and conducts regular employee performance reviews with each directly reporting subordinate at least once each year.
  • Applies the Company’s Diversity Policy to all personnel actions and implement effective affirmative action to ensure attainment of the company’s Diversity goals.
  • Completes Key Job Requirements and other tasks related to this position as assigned.

 

Requirements:

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:

  • Bachelors in Engineering required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years experience in composite design, development and manufacturing required. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered (15+ years experience in composite product engineering and design).
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in fast pace manufacturing environment.

REQUIRED SKILL IN:

  • Presenting and delivering information effectively.

  • Using personal computers: familiarity with Microsoft Office required.
  • Project management, business process redesigns, and benchmarking required.
