JOB:
Provide leadership and guidance to all functional departments
Help sell products and services
Oversee large scale field service/construction efforts

WHAT IS THE SIZZLE? WHY WOULD AN OUTSTANDING PERSON WANT THIS POSITION?
We are an up and coming player in select field service jurisdictions. We are also a serious player in key niche markets including dual laminate and FM approved exhaust duct. We will invest behind the business. You become part of an expanding group of companies with extensive synergies and cross selling and partnership opportunities.

REQUIRES:
Leadership experience running or second in command of company, division or branch of an FRP related business

Success will come from a balance of big picture skills and understanding and technical experience and abilities. Must be tactful and articulate and instill confidence in the staff; be capable of holding people accountable and thanking them for a job well done. Be able to gather information and make important decisions. Emphasis on customer service, quality, exceeding expectations, and continual improvement. The person who held the job previously had good balance of manufacturing and field service experience along with good customer presentation skills.

We want to grow our field service operations so we seek a leader with extensive large scale field service/construction experience, including sales

Manufactured product sales experience helpful but not critical;

Experience leading a manufacturing operation helpful but not required as we have a strong team running the manufacturing side of the business.

EDUCATION:
College degree strongly preferred but not absolutely required; success in real FRP business world highly valued.

PERSONALITY:
Needs to be a people person, able to manage conflict constructively, hold people accountable and motivate people to high performance. Team player with ability to coach and mentor; figure out what buttons to push. Sense of humor balanced with seriousness. Must be comfortable hiring people smarter than him/herself – surround yourself with highly capable people

WHAT OUTCOMES MUST BE ACHIEVED IN THIS POSITION AND WITHIN WHAT TIME FRAME?
Help us maintain and grow momentum in field service expansion; Timing wise, we expect continued growth to some point where it does not make sense to grow further; includes founding and staffing a new location on Gulf Coast.
Maintain and grow manufactured product sales; ongoing.
Manage several improvement initiatives including product development ideas we have in house.

Manufacturing side of the business has grown considerably in 2014. We have gone from nonexistent to a major player in dual laminate equipment

We are making major strides in field service on Gulf Coast. We expect to grow the field service business to $6 million or more per year and total revenues in the mid teens by 2016.

The consolidated group of companies had sales approaching nine figures in 2013 and EBITDA in eight figures. We have a presence in many industries and are growing in several – life science, wastewater, power, CPI. We have a dominant position in our product space in the semiconductor business. We have international customers but are largely focused domestically in North America.

WHAT INDUSTRIES DO YOU SERVE?
The usual broad array of industrial markets including CPI, oil and gas, mining, metals, semi, life science, power generation, etc.
We have broad enough customer base that we are not overly reliant on any single industry

COMPANIES WHERE YOU WOULD/WOULD NOT WANT TO RECRUIT?
There is only no fly zone company at the current time. We want to avoid non-compete contracts obviously.
We think the successful candidate might be a first or second in command of a division or branch of a larger FRP business.

TRAVEL?
Probably 25%. Can be based on central East Coast US or on Gulf Coast

WORKS WITH/SELLS TO?
Primarily industrial owner, OEM, GC/Design build/CM or sometimes a Consolidator

WHAT STAFF WILL THIS PERSON HAVE, AND HOW WILL THEY FIT INTO THE ORGANIZATION?
Responsible for all staff but direct reports are Director of Sales (inside), Business Development (outside), Director of Operations, Director of Field Services. Shared service areas (HR, supply chain, finance, and IT) are managed on a dotted line basis and provided by corporate.

PEOPLE WORK FOR PEOPLE. TO WHOM WILL THE CANDIDATE REPORT, AND WHAT IS THEIR TITLE? How long have they been with the company? What prior positions have they held? What is their educational background? What outside interests are they involved in? Why are they excited about working for the company?
This position will report to CEO of parent holding company. 14 years with the company. General business education (BA business). Accounting background; extensive experience with manufacturing companies. Came up from CFO role in early 2000’s. Has been leading the acquisition of companies to form a group of companies with strategic synergies. No relevant FRP industry experience but enjoys growing successful businesses and implementing successful strategies.

Enjoys building sustainable businesses that provide good jobs and creating a team of high functioning people all striving towards the same goals of being best in class and providing high quality products and service to our customers. We like to be the preferred supplier.

Outside interests revolve around sports and adventure – snowmobiling, hockey, water sports, travel, hiking.

WHAT MAKES THIS PERSON A GOOD BOSS?
Will give the candidate the leash needed to run the business with limited oversight. But will provide resources and common sense feedback. Goals will be clear. Positive mental attitude, we will achieve good things and create value for all of our stakeholders, ourselves, our employees, our suppliers, our customers.

WHEN DO YOU NEED THIS PERSON TO BE ON BOARD?
Sooner the better but we will wait for the right candidate. No false starts.

WHAT ARE THE WEAKNESSES OF YOUR OWN COMPANY, AND HOW DO WE OVERCOME THEM?
We need to balance between being a product manufacturer and field service provider. Add more product offerings in niche markets.
Factory on central East Coast is not a low cost jurisdiction but we overcome that by being LEAN.

WHY DON’T YOU FILL THIS POSITION INTERNALLY?
We don’t have anyone with the perquisite experience in the field service market as we are just growing into this market.

COMPENSATION:
Depends on experience, base salary plus bonus based on % of EBITDA over base target. No max on bonus. We are happy to pay big bonuses for big performance
